NetDragon Websoft appoints AI bot as new CEO:
- NetDragon Websoft announced last year it had appointed a bot as the CEO of its flagship subsidiary.
- The firm’s stock has risen in recent months, outpacing the Hong Kong market.
- It said the bot will increase efficiency and make key decisions for the gaming company.
It looks like AI’s first job victims aren’t white-collar workers after all. It’s the C-suite. We all thought AI would replace grocery store clerks, gas station attendants, and other mundane jobs, but it turns out the first victim of the AI revolution is actually the C-suite. Chinese game company NetDragon Websoft appointed an AI to be the CEO of its major subsidiary, and so far it seems to be going well.
Last August 2022, NetDragon appointed an “AI-powered virtual humanoid robot” called Tang Yu as CEO of Fujian NetDragon Websoft, saying it will improve efficiency, risk management, and decision-making, and ensure a “fair workplace for all employees.” NetDragon Websoft’s has a number of 4 834 people employees.
